Lost John Ray what a legend, one of the greats
I don't know about Mike Carson, but that's definitely Jerry Lundy on fiddle. What a treasure, Thanks Kilby.
RB was the best!
I hear nothing but the fiddle.
That fiddle talks😊
Wow😂
Is the narrator Bascom Lamar Lunsford? Hard to tell with the sound quality. It does not sound quite like Mr. Lunsford, but there is a certain inflection in his voice that makes me wonder.
Please notice how "un-RoundPeaky" Mr. Ward's picking is. He plays a Gibson RB-11 resonator banjo away from the neck., with no clucking, and of course, steel strings. I hope all of the "banjo camp" instructors with their open back, plastic strung, sound alike banjos with frailing scoops take notice. He's also playing...gasp...standing up! Fortunately, there has been a move away from RoundPeaky conformity. Also... ...Wade Ward played excellent 3-finger picking backup on many of his recordings with fiddle legend Uncle Charlie Higgins. Mr. Ward's backup was fairly close in sound to Charlie Poole's. You never hear the Round Peak "clawclones" discuss Wade's sparkling 3 finger picking.
Jawbone and the Babylonians! Yes!

Great!
Have you ever seen the devil uncle Joe???
Really cool to hear a bit of a backstory on these songs and this version of “Train 45” is quite the treat
Good stuff. Jim Caudill
I wanted to hear how Sally Ann got started with the washtub
Great fiddling. Never heard of him but he’s great
A rare glimpse into a world we have almost lost.
I love this tune. Thank you for sharing these old Wade Ward tunes. I try to learn as much as I can from his playing style.
Untouchable
loved it
That guitar rings like a bell. And seems like there was just one mic for E.C. Love these two.
Amazing, never knew footage existed for this.
I love EC and Orna. Thank you for sharing this.👍🏻
Great opportunity to see and her E C & Orna on film at last. Many many thanks,
Just sitting there and focusing on the song - unpretentious und humble. And what great harmony. You rarely find them like that anymore.
There's Jimmy Riddle on piano!
Hus was my great grandfather. So proud of him!
Hus was my great grandfather. So proud of him!
Aunt Sue an Uncle Hick were better people than even their playing! Just wanted to share that!
Very wonderfull... thank you ...
Is this still an active group? The photo looks like the 70's.
Otis Burris died in the ‘80s.
They were purest in the strictest sense. Wish they were others but i havent found any not even good imitators
Any clue who the banjo player is?
Love it😊
This is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen on UA-cam. Man, what a fascinating. window into mountain culture. As beautiful as the music is, I love even more to listen to Ola Belle talk. This is such a blessing
I ran into Mr. Curly several times, and always enjoyed his description of the folks on the balcony at the Opry as being "sitting on that shelf".
I saw him along with Skiter Davis and Del Reeves in Columbus , Georgia in 1966 when i was stationed in Fort Benning . It was a great show .
Just great, can't sit still 😊
Pickin
Mud chickens

And the guitarist was Dave Wright's friend Mark Wallace also English!
Or Harold Mitchell…
That's my great uncle!
That's my great uncle!
RIP Jim Varney. Thank you for being a big part of a great childhood.
The 'southpaw' short scale banjo player here is Englishman Dave Wright a well known fiddler at the time at the London old time sessions.
never be another Enoch
